I'm Gabriela Huallanca, and I help Spanish learners become confident, capable speakers through the Haku Method: Understand to Speak—an immersive approach grounded in comprehensible input and real conversation practice.

This method is designed to help you understand Spanish naturally and speak it with growing confidence—just like native speakers learn. With clear, no-fluff explanations, engaging tools, and personalized guidance based on your unique goals, you'll develop both the understanding and speaking skills needed to thrive in real-world situations.

How my Spanish teaching journey began

My teaching journey began in 2008 in Peru, where I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to children of all ages in private schools. I also had the incredible opportunity to work at one of Lima’s top language centers, specializing in Business English, which allowed me to gain six years of hands-on classroom experience.

Inspired by my deep passion for language education, I pursued a university degree in Foreign Language Education and proudly earned my Bachelor’s degree in 2013, with a double major in Spanish and ESL.

In 2015, just a year after relocating to the United States, I launched my career as an Online Spanish Teacher, helping students of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced—learn Spanish with confidence and purpose.

I currently hold a North Carolina teaching license with certifications in Spanish, English as a Second Language, and Special Education, reflecting my commitment to inclusive, personalized, and high-quality language instruction.

My journey as an online Spanish teacher began on a language platform where students from around the world booked lessons with me. Over time, I realized that I could create a deeper impact by building my own space—a personalized learning experience centered around what truly helps students become fluent. That’s how Haku Spanish was born.

I’ve had the joy of teaching everyone from curious kids to retired seniors, as well as professionals in media—football coaches, actors, and award-winning authors—all with one goal: to confidently speak Spanish in real life.

Before teaching Spanish, I spent years studying and teaching English. That background helped me see clearly what most Spanish programs were missing—a method that adapts to the learner, not the other way around.
